Lonaconing,Maryland --- Lovanna M. McKenzie, 89, formerly of 15 Island St., Lonaconing, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born on May 19, 1912, in Lord (Klondike), she was the daughter of the late James and Christina (Patterson) Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ralph McKenzie in 1989; one daughter, Mary L. Alexander; one son, James H. McKenzie; two grandchildren, Mark E. Spiker and Dianne M. Grimes; a son-in-law, Gary L. Broadwater Sr.; five brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. McKenzie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing, and the Sodality of the church. She was formerly employed by the Celanese Corp., and was a homemaker. Besides loving her family, she loved her church and cooking for everyone, especially Sunday dinners. All will miss her.
Surviving are three daughters, JoAnn Spiker and husband Everett of Midland, and Barbara McKenzie and Catherine Broadwater, both of Frostburg; one son, Melvin McKenzie of York, Pa.; one sister, Francine Yates; one brother, Harbart Allen; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Sister Joan Maenner officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lonaconing.
