Mary B. Lopez, age 65, of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2004. Mary was a courageous, faithful woman, and her children rise up and call her blessed. Mary's Savior and Lord is Jesus.
Mary is survived by her son, Joe Lopez, Jr. and daughter-in-law Maria of San Antonio, Texas, son, Omar Lopez (Born June 27, 1961 in Tom Green County, Tx.) and daughter-in-law Brandy of San Antonio, Texas, and son, Jay Lopez and daughter-in-law Michelle of Lago Vista, Texas; daughter Bonnie Porterfield and son-in-law Tice of Bertram, Texas; and nephews, Carlos Bazan,Jr.,of Dale, Texas and Joe Luis Bazan of Austin, Texas.
Mary is also survived by her 13 grandchildren; Eric Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Sara Lopez, Oscar Lopez, Diamond Lopez, Kelsey Lopez, Tice Porterfield, Haley Porterfield, Isaac Porterfield, Madison Lopez, Gabriel Porterfield, Presleigh Lopez and Paul Porterfield.
Mary is survived by sisters, Lucy Pardo of Edinburg, Texas, Amanda Benavidez and brother-in-law Felix of Austin, Texas and their two children, Gary Lee Benavidez and Edna Benavidez Hernandez, and Linda Canada of Austin, Texas.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Graciano Balderas, mother, Lucinda Balderas, brother Angel Balderas, and sisters, Mari Dominguez and San Juanita Bazan.
Mary was born November 21, 1938, in La Casita Ranch, Texas in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. She spent large parts of her childhood working up North in many different states as a migrant farmer with her large family. She later passed on her acquired strong work ethic to her own children and nephews.
Mary graduated with honors from Edinburg High School in 1946. She lived in various cities thoughout Texas and her family eventually settled in Libery Hill in 1976.
Mary had been actively involved in the community she loved for the past 28 years.
Mary was a dedicated wife of 35 years and a loving and devoted mother who cared deeply for her children and grandchildren.
