Mrs. Ida M. Evans, 84, of 155 Lafayette St., died at 3:30 Monday afternoon, Dec.22, after a year of illness. Ida Minier, daughter of Francis and Henrietta Minier, was born in Ronald township, August 16, 1868.
She graduated from Palo High School and later attended Ionia Institute, then taught the Strachan school for two years. October 8, 1887, she was married to Charles Evans and for 52 years lived on a farm in Ronald. After her husband's death in 1939, she came to Ionia and made her home with her son Don, until his death in 1950. Another son, Lee, died at the age of three years. Mrs. Evans was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ionia, Queen Esther Chapter, O.E.S., and Ionic White Shrine and a member and Past Noble Grand of Palo Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Don Crawford, of Ionia; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Compton of Plymouth and Mrs. Stella Steere of Danville, Kentucky.
Rev. William Pixley will officiate at the funeral which will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, from Boynton's. Burial will be in the family lot in Palo Cemetery.
