A former Quail and Wellington woman, Mrs. Roy Willingham, of Abilene, died Tuesday, May 31. She had been ill about three months. She was the former Eva Blevins, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Blevins, and was born in Eastland County July 17. 1897.
The family was among the pioneers to settle at Quail when its development as an agricultural area began just after 1900. Mrs. Willingham, attended the Quail schools, and later Clarendon College and West Texas State University.
She taught in schools at Quail, Marella and China Grove during the years of 1918, to 1925. She was married to Roy Willingham at Quail April 17, 1919.
The family lived in Wellington from about 1937 to the 1940s. Mr. Willingham was a rural mail carrier, and later they lived at Corsicana, Ada, Okla., and Irving, before moving to Abilene in 1963. She was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Trula Mae Brown of Garland; two sons, Dr. Roy Willingham of Abilene; and Charles Willingham of Garland; her brother, Clarence Blevins; four sisters, Mrs. Hiett; Mrs. Stella Wood of Hereford; Mrs. Maude Self of Chickasha, Okla.; and Mrs. Emalyne Coleman of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
