Odessa Maranda Burkett was the youngest child of six born to Mathew Bosker Burkett and Carrie Louisa Williamson. She was a life-long resident of Orlando.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Cecil Motes, Jr., who is buried in Greedwood Cemetery in Orlando, and by her grandaughter Odessa Margie Boswell Cappuccio.
Odessa died at age 93, on 5 Jul 2004 and was buried in the Conway Cemetery.
Her parents; grand-parents, Eli Warren Burkett and Maranda Kathleen Jones Burkett; one brother, Thomas James Burkett; one sister, Louella Reatha Burkett Middlebrooks; and her grandaughter, Margie, are also buried there.
She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, George Mathew Burkett and Jesse Lee Burkett, who are buried in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, Orange, FL and by her sister, Effie Margaret Burkett Gillespie, who is interred in Daytona Memorial Park, Volusia County, Florida.
Odessa is survived by her daughter, Carrie Lou Hull Boswell of Orlando; a half-brother, Raymond Burkett, of Valdosta, GA; grandaughter, Cecilia Beasley, 3 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all of Orlando.
