Gloria Cardon Alsop, 72, passed away peacefully October 13, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The daughter of Louis and Eleanor Cardon, she was born on Christmas Day 1925 in Salt Lake City. She earned a BA degree in Literature and History from the University of Utah where she served as an officer in Delta Gamma & Lambda Delta Sigma. On August 18, 1948, she joined hands and hearts in marriage with Eldon Jay Alsop in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Gloria was an exemplary daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a leader in numerous church callings, serving twice as Relief Society President. Gloria shared her lifelong love of literature and history with her literary club and as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served as DUP Captain of Meadow Moor Camp, President of the Olympus DUP Company, and on the national board as Corresponding Secretary. Two great labors of love for Gloria and Eldon were the raising of their children and the building of a family cabin, all of which were affectionately raised by hand. Gloria and Eldon recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Gloria is survived by her husband Eldon; five children, Dale (Julia) Alsop of Yorba Linda, CA, Dennis (Pam) Alsop of Park City, UT, Lori (Brian) Dabling, Julia Alsop, and Bryan (Pamela) Alsop, all of Salt Lake City, UT. sister, Carol Child of LaQuinta, CA; brother, Louis Cardon of Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren, and one great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 at the Cottonwood 6th Ward Chapel, 4930 S. West Moor Rd. Family and friends may call fron 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the Chapel on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Memorial Park.
