Martha Ann Fridley was born probably in Ross County, Ohio. In the 1850 census she appears living with Henry and Mary Calhoun Fridley, who I take to be her sister. In 1830 there were two families of Calhouns who were living next to the Jacob Fridley family in Ross County, Ohio. Mary Calhoun married Henry there on October 11, 1838, before the Fridley clan made their way to Scott County, Iowa in the early 1840s. It may be that Martha was some other relation to Mary than sister but the documentation to date does not allow certainty. It seems reasonable to assume they were sisters and that Martha came to Iowa with or at least to be with her sister and brother-in-law.
Martha married Henry's brother Adam Fridley September 11, 1851 in Scott County, Iowa and they had the following children:
