Charles Henry Philpott first married Margaret A. Salyards on 27 September 1866, at Tuscarawas County, Ohio. They had one child, Albert Bertram Philpott. Margaret died before 1870, probably in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, or Edgar County, Illinois. The location of Margaret's burial is unknown.
Charles then married Harriet E. "Hattie" Gordon. According to Ancestry.com, Harriet E. Gordon married Charles Mitchell 3 July 1870 at Edgar County, Illinois. This appears to have been a mistake--it should have read "Charles Philpott". The original marriage record could not be viewed on-line. Charles and Hattie had three children: Dora Belle, Cory Allen, and Rufus Harley. Hattie died in 1833 or later. She was living in her home in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1933, according to the Lincoln telephone directory. However, she was not listed in 1934 or later. The location of Hattie's burial is unknown.
