Esther was born December 20, 1898 in Great Bend, Kansas. She married Emil Marenholtz when she was 16 years old. She was the mother of two children: Audrey and Peter Elmer. She was enumerated on the 1930 census as divorced and living with her brother Wallace in Boise. Esther Marenholtz ran for Mayor of Boise City on April 4, 1933. She moved to Washington, D.C. to successfully lobby for a pension for her mother. She was a very persuasive woman and very active politically. While in D.C., she got a job in the Department of Agriculture. Esther passed away on April 1971 in Loveland, Colorado.
