Born in Kersey, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Austrian-Italian immigrants, Silvio "Sam" Buganza and Palma Fenice. He was the oldest of nine children and was known nearly his entire life as "Pete". Pete's siblings were Alex (known as Bob), Neal, Leo, Mary, Joe, Theresa, Clara (known as Dola), and Carolina (known as Ida). A Catholic by faith and a resident of Penfield, he was a coal miner and later worked for Penndot. He married Ellen Weber Buganza and she preceded him in death in 1972. Thier children were: James and Rosemary Fox. Pete died at St. Mary's Hospital in Penfield, Pennsylvania in 1983 when he was 79 years old, two days before he would have been 80.
