His boyhood days were spent at Afton. It was here he received his schooling, graduating from the 9th grade as that was all the schooling available at that time in the valley. It was at Afton he was baptized into the church.
At the age of 12 he received the priesthood and from that time on he has been a faithful worker in the church. No position was too large for his abilities or too small for his undivided attention. He faithfully responded to every call.
During his early manhood days, as during his entire life, he was surrounded by a host of friends. He courted and won for his own Leuella Nield and they were married at Paris, Idaho March 14th 1916 when he was 24. Eight years later they went to the Salt Lake temple and with their small family were sealed for time and all eternity. They were the parents of eight children---two boys and six girls.
During their married life they have resided at Etna, Fairview and Afton.
