Through the "lean years", she helped feed the family by taking in laundry for people. Her specialty was cooking delicious meals, when she had the materials to do so. She loved to raise beautiful flowers. She took good loving care of her children.
Mrs. Roger Rice, 214 West Second street, died shortly before midnight last night at her home. She had suffered a heart attack recently and had been in ill health since that time.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from a son, M-Sgt. Marshall Leroy Rice, now on duty with the Air Force in Turkey. The body was taken to the Wallace Funeral Home.
A native of Callaway County, Mrs. Rice was the former Elizabeth Phillips, a daughter of Benjamin N. and Mary Phillips, and was born on March 20, 1890. The family later moved to Boone County.
