L. Melvin Crouch, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or African Mission, in care of Church of Christ on Green Oaks, 4601 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas. 76017.
Melvin was born March 4, 1919, near Grandview and graduated from Itasca High School in 1935. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He became a certified public accountant in 1948 and was employed for 28 years by Slavik & Slavik CPA's in San Antonio, which later merged with Alexander Grant & Company.
In 1974, he was employed by Governor Dolph Briscoe as senior vice president and trust officer at First State Bank of Uvalde for 28 years. He also served as personal accountant and tax advisor for the Briscoe family.
Upon retirement in 2002, he moved to Arlington. Melvin was baptized into Christ in 1947 and served as a minister and a faithful member of the Church of Christ until his death. He established and was a member of the Nacogdoches Road Church of Christ in San Antonio for most of his adult life.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Nita Schulze Crouch, in 1947; and by his daughter, Sarah Crouch McFarlin, in 2000.
Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Marjorie Nace Crouch; children, Tom Crouch and wife, Beverly, of Arlington, Linda Cutter and husband, Jerry, of Mzuzu, Malawi, Africa, Martha Morris and husband, Chuck, of Deer Park, Susan Cawley and husband, Jonathan, of Louisville, Colo. and Kent Crouch and wife, Pam, of Bentonville, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister, LaFerne Chapman of Fort Worth.
