In the 1860 census, Richard Danks, Jr., is 15 and living in Troy, with his parents: Richard, 47, and Pheba Danks, 44, and his siblings: Thomas 23, John 19, Samuel 17, Joseph 13, Pheba 11, James 10, and Benjamin 8.

In the 1870 census, Richard Danks, 25, is living next door to his parents, Richard, 58, and Phebe Danks, 54, and Richard Jr's brothers: James 19, and Benjamin 18. At another house next door is Richard Jr.'s sister, Phebe Peabody, 21, and her husband, Oliver Peabody, and their children Delia, 3, and James, 1.

In the 1880 census, Richard Danks, 35, is living in Troy on Campbell Highway, with his wife, Delia, 35, and their children: Edner R. (Edna) 11, Annie B. 6, and Minnie E. 2, and Richard's step-daughter, Sarah Danks, 17.

On Dec. 20, 1882, Richard's mother, Phebe Danks, died. The funeral took place from the residence of her son-in-law, Oliver Peabody. His father is already deceased but unknown what date.

1902: It was reported at Police Headquarters this morning that Richard Danks is missing from his home on Campbell's Highway. He is about 60 years old and has been ill for some time. He left his home yesterday and was seen in Albany during the afternoon. [Troy Daily Times]

Richard Danks was 72 years old. His funeral was held from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence N. Powers, at 15 Reid Avenue. John Danks, Frank Danks, Oliver Peabody, William Tierney, Stephen Tierney and James Peabody, nephews of the deceased, were bearers. Rev. Harvey F. Connor, pastor of Levings Methodist Church, officiated. The interment was in New Mount Ida Cemetery.
