Pauline H. "Polly" Brubaker, 95, of South Whitley, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Peabody Home, North Manchester where she had been a resident since January 2007.

She was born October 31, 1914 in Wells County, Indiana a daughter of Robert L. and Mary Sara (Milliken) Hatfield. She graduated from Ossian High School in 1932 and received her normal degree from Manchester College in 1936.

On August 15, 1937 she was united in marriage to Charles B. Brubaker. They made their home in Fort Wayne for a year before moving to Ossian. In 1948 they moved to South Whitley. Mr. Brubaker died September 1, 1990.

While living in Ossian, she taught school for three years. She was also employed at Whitley Manufacturing for 17 years. Her church membership was with South Whitley United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, David (Anita) Nusbaum of New Haven, Jean (Max) Reed of Warsaw and GayLinn (Jeff) Watkins of Jonesboro, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hatfield and Halden Hatfield; and four sisters, Dorothy Hatfield, Margaret Wilson, Florence Hunter and Elizabeth Byrd.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice.
