Memorial services for Roger H. Erskine, 23 year old Motor Machinist's first class, who died of injuries received overseas, will be held Sunday, August 27, at Edgerton, Kansas. He was a member of Local 32 Textile Workers Union of America. He enlisted in the Navy in August, 1942, and was sent overseas in November of the same year. He served a year in New Caledonia ans was then transferred to an undisclosed South Pacific Island where he died of injuries received when a plane crashed into his living quarters.
He was employed by Bemis Bag Co., for several years prior to his induction. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee H. Erskine, Gardner, Kans., and three sisters, Miss Juanita Lee Erskine of the home, Mrs. Freddie Brecheisen and Mrs. H.L. Fesmire, both of619 Indiana Ave., Kansas City, Mo.
