Sufferings Ended. Mrs. Maria Smiley Covert, widow of the late John R. Covert, after a long and painful illness, passed away early Friday morning at her home on North Home avenue.
Deceased was born March 10, 1831, in Brown county, Ohio and came to this county in 1858. She was united in marriage to O.H.P. Smiley, whose death occurred in 1878. In 1881 she was married to John R. Covert, who died two years ago.
Mrs. Covert had been a faithful member of the Presbyterian church for many years, and had lived a devout Christian life. She was also a charter member of the missionary society of that church.
Deceased leaves an adopted daughter, Miss Mary Blume, of this city, two sisters and a brother, viz: Mrs. Gray of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Mrs. H. G. Hetherington of Westfield, Ind. and R. A. Berryman of Marion.
Funeral services were held at her home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. Burial at Greenlawn.
