OBITUARY: La Jara, Colo. resident Geraldine McCarroll, 79, died Dec. 3, 2008 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, Colo. She was born June 4, 1929 in La Jara to Ed and Geneva Holman Guymon. She married Richard T. McCarroll and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1993.
Geraldine was a member of the La Jara Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She worked for many years as a secretary for the North Conejos School District.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Lou Guymon and her great-grandson Anthony Gonzales.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Dec. 8, 2008 at the La Jara Second Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow in the Sanford Cemetery. Visitation will be Sun., Dec. 7, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church in La Jara.
Arrangements are in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Manassa.
