Complications of old age were the cause of the death of Ekke F. Aden who passed away in his home in Sterling, Nebr., Friday evening, July 20, 1956, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 28 days. He had enjoyed good health until about a year ago, then failed gradually but steadily as the days passed. In May of this year he was still able to enjoy a visit from his daughter who came from Oregon to see him. The last five days he was bedfast, yet remained concious until the end.
Ekke son of Fokke Aden and his wife Anka Annetta, nee Behrens, was born November 22, 1872, at Golden, Ill. On December 1, of the same year he was baptized. When he was 12 years old he moved to Sterling, Nebr. with his parents and after receiving religious instruction was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On February 21, 1912, he married Miss Tena Meyer of Elk Creek, who with two sons and two daughters, survives him. They went to housekeeping at Niles, Kansas., but later moved to Crab Orchard, and after a few years they moved to a farm west of Sterling where they lived 27 years. In 1946 they retired from the farm and went to live in Sterling.
Mr. Aden was a faithful in church attendance as long as his health would permit. His Christian teachings were reflected in his daily life, and he was a loving husband and father, as well as a kind and accomodating neighbor.
