Ethel Jane Beck, resident of Blackwell, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008. She was 94.

A graveside service will be Friday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. in Blackwell Cemetery Chapel with Glenn Brennan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Blackwell Funeral Home.

The daughter of John Lilborn and Mae Brewer Mullin, Ethel was born Oct. 28, 1914, in rural Gentry, Benton County, Ark. She attended rural country schools.

She married Woodrow Beck Dec. 24, 1932, in Jay. In 1949, she moved to Blackwell. She worked for Blackwell Laundry for more than 35 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackwell, the PEL Sunday school class and a member of the Chickamauga Cherokee Nation of Arkansas and Missouri.

She enjoyed visiting, painting, crafting and creating.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy W. Beck of Blackwell; her daughter, Elnora Jean Day of Owasso; her brother, Sam Mullin of Siloam Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 22 great, great-grandchildren; and numerous and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 14, 1985; parents; daughter, Ida Mae Stalman Fisher; son, Elmer Ray Beck; her brother, Charles Mullin; and her sister, Dorothy Asher.

Honorary casket bearers will be Lonnie Stalman, Terry Stalman, Robert Dunlap Jr., Randy Beck, Jimmy L. Beck, Harold Pingry Jr. and Ray Burgert.
