Portland – Frederick A. Farwell, 81, died in a Portland hospital Tuesday, January 27, 1953. He was born January 16, 1872, at Unity, the son of John and Melissa (Boulter) Farwell. For the past year he had made his home in Portland with a grandson, Robert C. Cannon.
Mr. Farwell was a member of the Odd Fellows in Unity for 63 years. He had been a farmer and was well known for his playing at dances.
Mr. Farwell is survived by his widow, Myrtle of Bangor, one daughter, Mrs. Marcella Smith of Rockland, Mass.; two sons, Robert of Wingdale, New York and John of Westbrook; one sister, Mrs. Kitty Harding of Unity; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Unity Union Church with the Rev. Milton Brophy officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Pond Cemetery in Unity.
