Herbert C. Carter of Lynchburg Dies

Herbert C. Carter, 47, of Lynchburg died Friday morning at the St. Francis Hospital at Charleston, S.C. At the time of his death he was an accountant. For many years he was formerly employed as agent for the Atlantic Coast Line railroad at Lynchburg.

The body of Mr. Carter was sent to Florence last night and will be carried to his residence this afternoon at Lynchburg. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at four o'clock at the Lynchburg Presbyterian Church. The interment will be at the church cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carter was born at Mars Bluff in 1898. He was a member of the Lynchburg Presbyterian church and a former member of the Elks Club of Florence.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Frierson Carter of Lynchburg; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Blake of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. C. T. Byrd of Florence, Mrs. Mary Yellott of Tucson, Ariz.; four brothers, LeRoy Carter of Florence, W. S. Carter of Timmonsville, Dr. J. T. Carter of Spartanburg, and R. C. Carter of Cope, S.C.

Funeral Today of Herbert C. Carter

Funeral services of Herbert C. Carter will be held at four o'clock this afternoon at the Presbyterian church at Lynchburg. Mr. Carter died Friday morning at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Charleston. For many years he was employed by the A.C.L. as agent at Lynchburg. At the time of his death he was an accountant at Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Frierson Carter of Lynchburg; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Blake of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. C. T. Byrd of Florence, Mrs. Mary Yellott of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. LeRoy Crosby of Charleston; four brothers, LeRoy Carter of Florence, W. S. Carter of Timmonsville, Dr. J. T. Carter of Spartanburg, and R. C. Carter of Cope, S.C. A granddaughter, Sandra Blake, of Fort Myers, Fla. also survives.
