Services for James Franklin Short, 84, were held at Mesa First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. A.M. Engle, the pastor. Mr. Short lived in Graham, Texas and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lena Foster on 28 December 1949. He had been spending several months with his daughter. Mr. Short moved to Texas with his parents as a small boy and lived in Texas and Oklahoma until 1926 when they moved to Young County, Texas.
Mr. Short often told of his exploits in Indian Territory as a young man and wrote of know Belle Starr in extensive articles. Survived by his wife; two daughters - Mrs. Lena Foster and Mrs. Daisy Gray; two step-sons - Alvin Baker and Roy Baker of James H Short & Phoebe Paralee Shipman
