Nicholas Long was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Copage ) Long.

Uncle Nicholas Long passed from this earth to the eternal home last Sunday morning, Sept. 12, 1919, at 11:30. He had been bed-fast for some six weeks at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Creasey, where he died.
He was born in this state 90 years ago and settled in this county in 1844. He was born, lived and died in Missouri. We can't say too much for Bro. Long. He lived the life of a Christian and was a friend to everybody. He was a member of the Baptist church and had been for years. He leaves five children---four daughters and one son---Daniel Long, Mesdames Robert and Thomas Creasey, Columbus Jesse and A. V. Alexander.
His funeral was preached Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Liberty church by Rev. Clarence Long of Centralia. He was laid to rest by the side of his wife who proceeded him eight years ago.

NICHOLAS LONG
Died at his home in Audrain county, Nicholas Long, aged 90 years, on September 12, 1909.
The body of Mr. Nicholas Long was laid to rest in the Liberty church cemetery Monday afternoon. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C. C. Long, of this place. A large number of friends of the deceased gathered to put his body away with Christian respect.
Mr. Long was born in St. Louis county, where a part of the city St. Louis now stands, Jan 18, 1819. In early life he moved to Boone county, but in 1854 he took up his home in Audrain county near the place on which he died. He was married to Miss Parthena Drain when quite a young man. To them were born twelve children, five of whom are now living, Mrs. Robert Creasy, Mrs. Thos. Creasy, Daniel Long, Mrs. A.V. Alexander and Mrs. Columbus Jessee.
Mr. Long became a Christian when he was a boy and united with the Baptist church. He lived the life of a good man, making a loving husband, al oyal friend and always a neighbor.
He is gone, but notwithstanding, he left behind him a monument more enduring than granite. For that he has lived a good life, being true to himself a perpetual memorial in the hearts of men.
