NEWMAN, Eloise Entered into eternal rest the afternoon of October 10, 2004, Eloise Allen Newman, widow of James Jackson Newman. Residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at North Charleston United Methodist Church, Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at eleven o clock. Interment will follow in Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sumter, SC at three-thirty o clock. Friends may call at North Charleston United Methodist Church Chapel Wednesday morning from ten o clock until the time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL. Born December 8, 1914 in Marion, SC, Mrs. Newman was the daughter of the late, Walter Franklin Allen, Sr. and Bessie Memory Allen. Mrs. Newman was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Sumter, SC. She was a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class and was a member of Josephine Abrams/Rogers U.M.C. Women s Circle. She was also an accomplished writer, poet and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include a son, Daniel Allen Newman of N. Charleston; two daughters, Vira Jean Parks of Plum Branch, SC and Anne N. Elsey of Taylors, SC; sister, Irene A. Thompson of Sumter; brother, Walter F. Allen, Jr. of Sumter; six grandchildren; Thurman A. Elsey, III, Alicia A. Sastry, James Allen Parks, David Earl Parks, Travis Eugene Parks and Jason Newman Edgerton; seven great granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Charleston United Methodist Church, 1125 East Montague Avenue, N. Charleston, SC 29405.
