CHUBBUCK - Our most treasured husband, father and grandfather, A. Doyle Croney, returned home on Oct 22, 1997, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Doyle was born Jan. 14, 1925, to Daniel and Nettie Rawlins Croney in Bancroft. He spent most of his early life in the Chesterfield area by Bancroft, attending Pebble Elementary school and North Gem High School in Bancroft.
He married Lillie Willmore 7/20/1948, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Doyle and Lillie farmed the first two years of their marriage on his parents farm in the Kelly-Toponce area. They then run the Lava Spa Motel for two years and worked for Robinson Sawmill. Doyle retired after 30 years at FMC (1957-1987) as a machinist. He also worked with his wife for 25 years installing window coverings.
He was a member of the LDS Church 25th Ward; he was a high priest. He served countless hours at the Bishops' Storehouse in Pocatello for a few years.
Doyle love to fish, especially in the Pebble Creek and Toponce area. He loved trapping beaver, mink and muskrats in the Porneuf and Blackfoot Rivers. During his youth and young adulthood he trapped with his brother Ray. After his brother's death he and his very dear friend, Gene Fagnant, enjoyed traping and hunting for several years.
Doyle bowled for 30 years on an FMC league. He loved to go camping with his family and liked to play pinochle.
He liked working in his yard and raising a garden. He liked to share the produce from his garden with family and friends.
He loved his grandchildren and they will miss hime very much.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillie, a daughter, Lillie Lou (Will) Chaston of West Bountiful, Utah, a daughter, Lesa G. (Kelly) Manning of Huber Heights, Ohio; a son, Jeffrey D. (Sharlene) Croney, of Twin Falls; a brother, Kenneth (Mary) Croney, of Pocatello; a sister, Leona Reid, of Lewiston; and a sister Jean (John) Herbert, of Clark Fork.
He was preceded in death by his father and motherDaniel and Nettie Croney; a daughter, Corinne Iverson; a brother, D. Raymond Croney; and a sister, E. Maxine Croney Avery.
Funeral services were held on Tueday, Octoer 28, at the LDS 25th Ward in Chubbuck. Burial will be in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.
