Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Edwin Axvig, 78, long-time county resident who died Monday, September 22, 1975, at a Langdon nursing home, where she had been a resident since 1971.
The funeral was held at the Hitterdal Lutheran Church, near Milton, with the Rev. George Dahl officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, beside the grave of her husband, who died May 11, 1974.
Ragnhild Herseth was born October 2, 1896, in Norway and as a child came to the Milton community with her parents, who were Hans Olson Herseth and Julie Fredenbund Herseth. Her mother died January 22, 1937, and her father died May 2 of the same year.
She and Edwin Axvig were married January 24, 1917 at Fairdale. They farmed in Montrose township until 1948 and after that her husband engaged in sales work until her retired in 1968. She was a lifelong member of Hitterdal Lutheran Church.
A daughter and two sons survive. They are Mrs. Garnet (Ruby) Flack, Milton; Willard Axvig, Bemidji, Minn., and Kenneth Axvig, Rugby. five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Anna Olson, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Carl (Jenny) Gilbertson, Barnesville, Minn., are two sisters who survive and two brothers who also survived are Ole Herseth, Adams, and John Herseth, Powers Lake.
