A.R. Brackett Dead.

A.R. Brackett, better known as "Morey", died suddenly at the poor farm early Tuesday morning. Poor Morey was blind and had become a burden on the community when he was sent to the poor farm recently. He was blind and almost if not quite crazy. He got out of bed early Tuesday morning, tore up a quilt and got it on fire at the stove. He then threw the blazing quilt about the room and caught two or three beds on fire, on one of which Dr. Nash had fainted and would have burned to death had not help arrived. Steward Johnson and his assistants put out the fire and during this time Morey was standing near the stove and against the wall, when all at once he fell to the floor and was dead in a few moments.

Brackett was an old, eccentric character. He served in the Cuban War, during which he contracted a disease which resulted in total blindness. He drew a pension, but being without a home, became a wanderer and insane. He leaves a wife and several children.
