Charles Joe Brackett

Charles (Charlie) Joe Brackett was born June 6, 1878 in Texas County, Missouri. He was the youngest child born to Joel Whitman Brackett and Hannah B. Russell Brackett. He married Miss Mary C. Evans on June 5, 1911 in Independence, Arkansas.
He was unable to recover from the Great Depression. When the bank foreclosed on his farm and came to get his farm animals, he was unable to cope, and sadly, died from a self-inflicted gun wound.
Those left to mourn, were his wife, Mary C. Evans Brackett; three daughters, Florence, Flossie and Mildred Brackett; three sons, Elishia E., James, and Sammy Brackett; two sisters, Sarah Louise (Brackett) Payne, Mary Amy (Brackett) Wilson. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Almoren Russell Brackett, Fred Augustus Brackett, and his parents.
His granddaughter, Gloria (Morgan) Cooksey relates that he is buried in Independence County, Arkansas, in probably an unmarked grave. Thankfully for Find-a-grave memorials, he will never be forgotten. God rest his sweet soul.
