George Veldon was born in Hubbard, Texas, to Abner and Elizabeth Hassell. He graduated from Hubbard High School, owned and operated the Phillips 66 Service Station in Bellmead for several years and was a past employee of McDonalds Auto Parts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Abner, in 1988.
He is survived by sons, Mark Hassell and Michael Hassell, both of Burleson; daughter, Angela Sawyer, of Waco; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Jean Gossett, of Burleson; step-mother, Virginia Hassell, of Hubbard; brother, Jerry Hassell, of Hewitt; step-sister, Linda Brown, of Hubbard; and nephew, Lynn Hassell.
