JEROME SPENCER
Jerome Spencer, 79, long time resident of Porter county, died Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Porter Memorial hospital, following a long illness. He was a teamster in Valparaiso for many years starting in business when he was 17 years old.
He was born Sept. 2, 1881, in Jasper county, the son of Eli Spencer and Nancy Belle (LaCount) Spencer.
He is survived by his widow, Sylvia; eight children, Edward, Wilbert and Jack of Valparaiso, Charles of Deep River, Mrs. Nancy Denby, Mrs. Jane Salyer and Mrs. Lucile Berry of Valparaiso, and Mrs. LaVerne Abraham of Wheeler; a brother, Clair of Valparaiso; 31 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the LePell Funeral home with the Rev. Arlace Duncan of Wesleyan Methodist church in charge. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at LePell Funeral home and until time of services Saturday.
