My Great Great Uncle
My Great Grandmother,
Nancy Ann Corn Gaydon's Brother.

This info came to me as a suggestion from a FAG visitor. Thank you so much. "Alice from Oregon"

HENRY M. CORN was born 16 Dec 1857 in Lumpkin County, Georgia, and died 19 Mar 1929 in Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma. He married MARY L. LESSER 09 Feb 1879 in Hall County, Georgia, daughter of SAMUEL LESSER and MARGARET VANDIVER. She was born 30 Jun 1861 in Hall County, Georgia, and died 01 Jun 1905 in Mickle Switch, Arkansas. She is buried in Danville, Arkansas.

Henry M. worked for and later owned a lumber company in Arkansas. Some years after his wife died, he went to Pittsburgh, Oklahoma where he owned and ran a wagon yard for the coal mines there.

There is some discrepancy as to the exact birth date of Henry M. His family Bible records state his birth date as 16 December 1857; the 1907 application for the Eastern Cherokee Roll [Edwin Corn. Application submitted for Eastern Cherokee Roll of 1909 (Guion Miller Roll), Application #9448, 8 January 1907. [Microfilm], U. S. National Archives and Records Administration, Fort Worth, Texas, pages 1-3.] states his birth date as 24 November 1857; his death certificate only gives the year of his birth as 1857.

Obituary:
"AGED MAN DEAD
H. M. Corn, age 72, died at his home here last Tuesday after a brief illness. Mr. Corn is survived by four sons and five daughters, one of tehm [sic] living in Poteau."

I AM USING THE BIRTH DATE FROM THE FAMILY BIBLE, FOR I WOULD THINK IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE BY HIS MOTHER AND SHE SHOULD KNOW.
