ALVAH RAY PRICE
N. Manchester- Alva Ray Price, about 89, a resident of the Laketon community most of his life, died Tuesday morning in the Wabash County Hospital. He was ill one year and death was caused by a stroke. The body is at the Burgess Funeral Home where friends may call. Funeral services will be held in the Wesleyan Methodist church, Laketon, Thursday at 1 PM with the Rev. Maurice Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Laketon Cemetery. Mr. Price belonged to the Hillside Wesleyan Methodist Church, Marion.
Mr. Price was born in 1874 to John and Louisa (Mote) Price. He married May Bingner in 1913 and she is deceased. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Brown, Goshen, one sister, Mrs. Etta Martin, Laketon, and one brother, Esta Price, Laketon, and five grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters preceded him in death: Mae (Warner), Charles Guy Price, Vivian (Moore), John C., Grace (Slagel), Frank, Verl (Hamilton), Dottie, Asa and Eva.
His first wife was Lavina French. Ray was a school teacher and taught in Peru,IN; and in Marion College in Marion,IN. Altho many knew him as "AL" he went by "Ray" when he was later teaching.
