NILES – Mrs. Vernon (Laurabelle) Reed, 77, of 40 N. Bentley Ave., died at 12:45 a.m. today at her home of a stroke. She had been ill six months.
Born Nov. 14, 2889 in Butler County, Pa., she was the daughter of William D. and Clarabelle Hilliard Rodgers and came to Niles three years from Slippery Rock, Pa.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock and also a member of the Classroom Teachers Association of Butler County. She had taught school in the Slippery Rock School system.
Her husband, Vernon Reed Sr., died in 1963.
Surviving are one son, Vernon Reed Jr., of Cleveland, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild, one brother W. Clyde Rodgers, of Durant, Okla., two sisters, Mrs. Bertram (Bess) Kaufmann, of Redondo Beach, Cal., and Mrs. John (Wilda) Woodcock, of Niles, with whom she made her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Reese-Wynn-Woodward Funeral Home where friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Grove City Cemetery. Arrangements made by James Holloway.
