John, son of William and Catherine (Bailey) Head, came as a small child with parents to Linn Co MO. Most of life near North Salem. Married Matilda Standifer 31 Jan 1886. Seven children survive, Noah of North Salem; Mrs Ray Riddle of Quincy, IL; Simon, Hannibal MO; Mrs W.R. McKee, Kansas City; Walter R. of Browning MO; Mrs Lewis Elliott of Rhinelander, WI and Harvey of Marceline MO. Elected sheriff of Linn County and moved to Linneus, continuing to live there. He died at St Joseph's Hospital, Kansas City. Body returned to Linneus where services held. Burial North Salem Cem. (Information from the Browning Leader-Record, issue 28 Jan, 1926. Death certificate says he was buried in Linneus.)
