M. Violet Alwine, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care November 23, 2008, with her family by her side.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Butler) Rickrode.
Violet was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Hanover. She retired from Hanover Hall Nursing Center after 26 years of service.
She was the wife of Cyril J. "Cy" Alwine Sr., her husband of 73 years, who died April 4, 2005, and surviving are two sons; Larry R. Alwine and wife Delores of Hanover and Cyril J. Alwine Jr. of York; two daughters, Judyann Amig and husband Bernie and Julieann Reese and husband Dick all of Hanover; one brother, Omer "Pat" Rickrode of Hanover; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son Lonnie Alwine; a daughter, Barbara Smith; two sisters, Leora James and Mardine Buehrle; and a brother Robert Rickrode.
