Cyril J. "Cy" Alwine Sr., of Hanover, entered into Heavenly rest April 4.

He was a son of the late Pius and Jenny Markle Alwine.

Mr. Alwine retired in 1975 from R. H. Sheppard Inc. in Hanover. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Church in Hanover, the American Legion, the Republican Club, the McSherrystown Home Association and a charter member of the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association. Mr. Alwine was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army.

He was the husband of Mary Violet Rickrode Alwine for 72 years and, surviving in addition to her, are two sons, Larry R. Alwine of Hanover and Cyril J. Alwine Jr. of New Oxford; two daughters, Judyann Amig and Julieann Reese, both of Hanover; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Alwine; one daughter, Barbara Smith; three brothers, Ginger Alwine, Charlie Alwine, and Brian Alwine; and three sisters, Marie Fanus, Francine Ford and Esther Forry.

Interment, with full military honors, was provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
