Ava was the daughter of Nathaniel Case and Avis Harris Case. On 4 Sep 1855 in Guilford County, NC she married James Jones (1833-1863). Together they had a son, Patrick Henry Jones on 5 Jul 1857 and a daughter Mary Jones on 19 Apr 1862. James died on 15 Aug 1863 due to his wounds he received at the Battle of Gettysburg.
Ava married James Harris on 30 Aug 1868 in Guilford County, NC. In 1870 they moved to the Spiceland, Henry, Indiana area. My great-grandmother, Mary Jones, said that at the age of 8 she walked the entire way except to ferry across the Ohio River.
