"Ron" Allen Burton Buzzell

"Ron" Allen Burton Buzzell, 43, of Wilsonville, OR, died June 11, 1993.

Mr. Buzzell was born June 11, 1950 in Afton, WY to Howard William Buzzell and Ann Burton Buzzell. He lived in North Hollywood, CA until 1965.

He was married to Gloria Pratt from August 2, 1969 to March 23, 1979. Later, he married Sandra Dye-Mack, January 1, 1991.

He was known as "Ron Allen" throughout his 16 years as a radio air-personality. He began on the air during the emergence of the "underground" era in Portland, Ore. FM radio in 1975. He was a former musician and worked at KGON FM, KINK FM, KMJK FM radio stations in Portland.

In 1987, he left Portland to work in radio in Los Angeles, CA, at KNX FM, a CBS Radio Network. He later joined Transtar Radio Networks, which supplies live satellite programming around the country.

He returned to Portland and founded Newsource, one of the first traffic and recreational reporting services for local radio stations.

He started a career in aviation in 1989 and got his certification in commercial aviation in three years. He held a private license for VFR and IRF, an Airline Transport Pilot License, was a certified flight instructor at Evergreen Flying Service in Vancouver, WA, a charter pilot for Aurora Aviation, corporate pilot for the law firm of Meyers & Radler, flew fire surveillance for the Forest Service and maintained wildlife counts for the Fish and Game Commission. He also served as a C-207 Captain for Mark Air Express in Alaska. One of his pastimes was flying the "taildragger," an aircraft with a small wheel or skid to support the tail during landing.

He wrote in his spare time and several of his aviation short stories were published in aviation magazines.

Mr. Buzzell was a Vietnam veteran in the US Army, stationed out of Fort Lewis, WA. He also served in the Army National Guard, Troop F, 116th Cavalry, Portland, OR.

Inurnment will be at Nestucca Valley Cemetery in Hebo, OR, and Afton City Cemetery, Afton, WY.
