Nellie Nellie A. Mandle, 89 of Geneseo died Monday, November 17, 2008 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m on Friday, November 21st at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. John Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, 225 E. Park St., Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Nellie Mandle Memorial Fund.
The former Nellie Gradert was born in Cornwall Township, Henry County, IL the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Rahn) Gradert. She married Lyle Mandle on May 17, 1941, and they spent 67 happy years together. He died October 17, 2008. Nellie farmed with her husband Lyle in the Geneseo area for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Nellie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joys were spending time with her grandsons and great grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, baking for others, and took time to care for others.
She will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her son Kenneth and his wife Linda Lou, of Yorkville, IL; her grandsons Shaye (Sunny) Mandle, of Germantown, TN, and Darien (Angie) Mandle, of Brooklyn Park, MN; her four great grandchildren, Piper, Zane, Ava and Grady; her sister, Bessie Weber, Geneseo; and her brother, Donald Gradert, Geneseo. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and ten brothers and sisters.
