Carolyn Ynez Awtrey Hatfield, 58, beloved daughter, sister and mother, passed away peacefully Sunday Dec. 9, 2007, at a local hospital from complications of diabetes.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at Western Hills Church of Christ, 8800 Chapin Road, Fort Worth, where she was a member. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born in 1949 in Bakersfield, Calif., the eldest child of Oran and Pearl Awtrey. Her parents relocated to Fort Worth in her first year of life. She was a longtime resident of Fort Worth, except for a brief period living in Iowa. She graduated from Trimble Tech High School and later worked at the Masonic Home along side her husband, "Hat." During her younger years, Carolyn had a passion for making ceramics which she lovingly gave away to family and friends. She also spent many years raising the neighborhood kids. She will be missed by many.
Survivors: Husband, Creighton Hatfield; son, Robert Knock; parents, Oran and Pearl Awtrey; brother, Allan Awtrey and wife, Cathy; sister, Karen Davis and husband, Barry; and several nieces and nephews.
