Oran Baron Awtrey, 90, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Oran was born April 28, 1922, in Ringling, Okla., to Baron Steuben and Vida Ezzel Awtrey. He married his wife, Vera Pearl Davis, on Sept. 6, 1941. They settled in Fort Worth in 1949 where they raised three children. He and Pearl were longtime members of Western Hills Church of Christ. Oran served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as an electronic quality control engineer at Lockheed Martin for 55 years. Oran was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; their daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Creighton Hatfield; and his parents. Survivors: Son, Allan Awtrey and wife, Cathy; daughter, Karen Davis and husband, Barry; grandchildren, Bobby, Karey, Allan, Bryan, Craig, Diane and Adam; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, J.C. Awtrey; and numerous other family and friends.
