Funeral services for Albert Schneider, 83 of Giddings, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion Post 276, will immediately follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A prayer service will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert was born on November 8, 1929 in Fedor, Texas to Ewald Karl and Wilhelmine Bertha (Vogel) Schneider. He was baptized on November 17, 1929 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor by Rev. Dorre. He attended school at Trinity Lutheran in Fedor and was confirmed there on April 18, 1943 by Rev. Adolf Michalk. His confirmation verse was Matthew 24:42 "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come". He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1959 reaching the ranking of Corporal. Albert was united in marriage to Ruth Velma Namken on February 7, 1954 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas by Rev. Fred Mgebroff. He retired in 1985 from working for the road maintenance department for Lee County Precinct 2. Following Ruth's death in 2007, Albert married Irene Boriack of Loebau on February 14, 2011 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. He enjoyed his cows, working with and on his tractors, and dancing to polkas and waltzes.

Albert passed away unexpectedly during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; his son, Darrall; his brother, Gilbert and a sister, Edna Boriack.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Schneider of Giddings; children, Elaine and husband, Larry Weiser of Giddings, Nancy and husband, Tommy Ewing of Giddings, daughter-in-law, Beatrice and Terry Flippo of Smithville; grandchildren, Jeremy Weiser and wife, Kimberly of Lincoln, Victoria Snyder and husband, Jonathan of Smithville, Heidi Exner and husband, Keith of Lincoln, Hannah Peterson and husband, Jordan of Dime Box, Thomas Ewing of Giddings, Brandon Flippo of Smithville and Rebecca Flippo of Smithville; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nathan Snyder of Smithville, Baylen and Kellan Exner of Lincoln, Hoyt Weiser of Lincoln; sister, Marie and Leon Albrecht of Paige; sister-in-law, Ellen Schneider of Giddings; step-sons Leonard Boriack and wife, Cynthia, Larry Boriack and wife, Vicki and Delbert Boriack and wife, Debra as well as numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and many beloved family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Weiser, Thomas Ewing, Keith Exner, Jonathan Snyder, Brandon Flippo and Jordan Peterson.

Memorials may be made to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Day School Fund, the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Sunday School/Youth Fund or to the charity of one's choice,
