Twelve Are Hurt in Merced County Traffic Mishaps

MERCED, Feb 4 – Twelve persons, including seven from San Francisco, were injured in two accidents in a heavy fog near here to-day.

In a crash twenty miles west on the Los Banos-Merced Highway a San Francisco automobile collided with a truck driven by Tony Argentino, 23, Fresno.

The injured, who suffered head cuts and lacerations, are Ben Kay, 16, driver of the car en route to Fresno for a Seventh Day Adventist convention; Mrs. Mary Kay, M. B. Hanson, 28; E. V. Vaugh, 45, leg also injured; Mrs. A. A. Hillback, 65; Mrs. F. E. Wood, and Mrs. Pearl Scharr, who suffered a possible fractured hip.

Another car driven by Charles E. Greenamyer, Mariposa, collided with a truck driven by Gilbert Pitt twelve miles east of the Yosemite Highway.

Greenamyer's passengers, riding on the truck bed with their legs hanging over, suffered severe injuries. A. C. McCandless, 6_, suffered compound fractures of both legs. Others injured are Claude Epperson, 35, left leg hurt; O. P. Foote, Oakland, left leg fractured at knee; Carl Bingham, 27, sprained ankle.

Charles Greenamyer, Sr., incurred minor injuries.
