Mrs. Grace Allen Toms, aged 55, wife of George W. Toms and daughter of the late Ethan and Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 11 o'clock after an illness of several months. She was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and had a host of friends here, who will mourn her loss because of her cheerfulness, faithfulness and loyalty to them. Mrs. Toms was a sister of the late Dr. Millon R. Allen, who was well known in this city. She was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four brothers, R. B. Allen, of Baltimore; L B. Allen, of Salem, Va.; E. M. Allen, of this city, and Herbert C. Allen, of Asheville, N. C., who arrived here a week ago to be with his sister during her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of her nephew, Ethan Allen Odend'hal, 749 Armistead Bridge Road, this afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D. D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, and the Rev. Frank L. Hardy, D. D., pastor of Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
