On 16 February 1935, Miss Mary Arona Harbison of Bellevue married Gilbert Mood Slaughter of Athens. The wedding took place in the Bellevue Methodist Church with Rev. Mood, pastor of Grace Methodist Church of Dallas, Texas. Wedding music was provided by Miss Mary Smith, Miss Maurine Scott and Miss Louise Ritchie, all members of the Graham Public faculty of which the bride has taught the past two years. The bride was given away by her brother, Sam B Harbison. Mrs. Sam B Harbison of Graham was the bride's only attendant. The groom was attended by his brother, Barnett Slaughter of Dallas and Troy Hickey of Bellevue. After the ceremony, the reception was held at the home of the bride's mother. The cake was cut by Miss Izella Sparks, one of the teachers of Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Slaughter took their trip to South Texas and will make their home in Athens, Texas.
