GOODRICH – Funeral services were held Saturday from the Chapel of Pace Funeral Home in Livingston for Wilson Armitage, 92, who died Oct. 19 in Livingston Memorial Hospital. Rev. L. A. Sartain, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Goodrich, officiated.
Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Louis Turner, Joe Turner, Jim Turner, Douglas Armitage Jr., Michael Armitage and Jim Whitaker.
Armitage was born Jan. 31, 1886, in Goodrich to the late Wilson and Martha Ray Armitage.
A native of the Goodrich area, he was educated in the local public schools. He spent his adult life in the timber business and farming. He was married Oct. 12, 1912 in Elwood to Pattie Laramore. The Armitages had six children, of which five survive. Armitage was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goodrich.
Among survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ola Mae Turner of Goodrich and Mrs. Ruth Whitaker of Longview; three sons, Roger W. Armitage of Kirbyville, C. D. Armitage of Livingston, and L. T. Armitage of Saint Francisville, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Renfro of Beaumont and Mrs. Ola Bradley of Houston; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
