MRS. CATHERINE LONG DIES EARLY SATURDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Long, who passed away at her home in Princeville early Saturday morning, April 2, were held at St,. Mary of the Woods Catholic church, Princeville, Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock, with Rev. Fr. J. A. Gordon saying the Requiem mass. Six of her grandsons, William and Edward Hickey, Clement Gill, Edward Long, Joseph Carroll and Edwin Cox, were casket bearers and placed her in the family lot in St. Mary's cemetery, Princeville, besides her departed husband.
Obituary
Catherine Ann Noonen was born in Chillicothe, Illinois, July 18, 1858 and passed away at he home in Princeville, Illinois, April 2, 1938, being in her 80th year. She was the oldest child of Michael and Mary McCarty Noonen and grew to womanhood in the Princeville community.
On June 22, 1880, she was united in marriage at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic church, Princeville to William Long of Stark county and with her husband went to housekeeping on the Long farm near Stark. They resided there for almost six years, later moving to the farm now occupied by son, James Long, also located near Stark, where she lived until moving to Princeville in 1912.
To this union eight children were born, six of whom survived; Mrs. Mollie Hickey, of Peoria, Mrs. Catherine Gill, Mrs. Teresa Ryan and James and William, all of Speer and Mrs. Marguerite Megan, Princeville postmistress, who has made her home with her mother since the death of Mr. Megan. One daughter, Mrs. Ella Carroll and an infant son Roy t., preceded her in death. Mrs. Long is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, one sister Miss Mary Noonen of Peoria and one brother, Michael Noonen of Princeville, besides a host of more distant relatives and a wide circle of friends.
Her husband died in 1903 leaving her with a large family to rear and educate, which with courage and faith she did, never finding any sacrifice too great for her family.
Mr. Long was of a quiet, unassuming nature who was deeply loved by all who knew her. She was a good religious character and a devout member of the Catholic faith. She was a loving wife and mother, a kind friend and neighbor and a good citizen in her community and her death will be mourned by all. The large number of relatives and friends at the last rites bore silent tribute of the high esteem in which she was held.
