Lyle E Abbey, Cropsey , dies; rites Thursday - A retired grocery store and ice cream parlor owner, died Monday [Mar 17, 1975] at gibson city community hospital. He was born May 30, 1904 at Cropsey, a son of Benjamin and Bertha [Meeker] Abbey. He married Elizabeth Boyles July 16, 1943 at Paxton. Surviving are his wife; a brother, H Dale Abbey, Normal; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Watson, Michigan; Mrs. Ima Popejoy, Cropsey; Mrs. Wilma Martens, Fairbury; and Mrs. Hazel Essington, Odell. Two brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Cropsey United Methodist Church, The Cropsey Community Association, and the Modern Woodsman of America. My Abbey, a 1925 Cropsey High School Graduate, owned his own business for 50 years.
