LAURA ALICE CAMERON CHAIN

Mrs. Laura A. Chain, age 75, died at the home of her son, B. O. Chain, of Canyon, Randall County, Texas, at 7 o'clock Monday evening, May 31, 1937.

Mrs. Chain, formerly of Cooperton, Oklahoma, was a member of the Baptist Church. She came to Canyon to live with her son and family nine months ago.

She was born around May, 1862 (or 1857) in Mississippi to John Cameron and (mother's name not known). She married Barron D. Chain sometime before 1880. They lived in the Freestone County and Navarro County, Texas, areas before they moved to Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). They farmed and ranched in the Wichita Mountains in Comanche County southeast of Cooperton, Oklahoma before moving into Cooperton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barron D. Chain on December 9, 1931, in Cooperton, Oklahoma.

She is survived by seven sons, Will Chain of Cooperton, Oklahoma; Dave Chain of Duncan, Oklahoma; John Chain and Fred Chain of Little Rock, Arkansas; Burton (B. O.) Chain of Canyon, Texas; Jim Chain and Joseph Chain; and a daughter, Cordelia (Mrs. J. T.) Terry of Roosevelt, Oklahoma; and one step-son Alvis Chain.

Funeral arrangements were under direction of Griggs Thompson. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery, Canyon, Randall County, Texas.
